So...is it this bad after every election? Is this like childbirth, and we just forget how bad it was until we have to go through it again? And then we remember, "oh yeah, this is BAD."
Has there been an election like this previously where the two sides could not at least agree that the other side's candidate was a basically decent human being? I think that's something we took for granted in the past, apparently, because it didn't seem like that was common ground this election.
Has there been an election like this previously where the two sides look at each other and are seriously just like "..."? Like there is no way we can even understand how someone else could have voted that way?
I don't remember any previous election being so bitterly divisive. Divisive, yes, but not bitterly so. But maybe my memory is short. And also I've only been of voting age for five elections.
