Off Balance: A MemoirOff Balance: A Memoir by Dominique Moceanu
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh my heart hurts for all this girl went through and I am so glad that her life turned out OK.

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Better than Six of Crows. Every time I thought the story couldn't get any tighter, more dangerous, or more suspenseful, with higher stakes, Bardugo took things up a notch.

My Lady JaneMy Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not perfect, but so. much. fun. Lots of Princess Bride-style shenanigans here and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, set in a solid historical background.

I can't wait to pass it on to my 11-year-old (while I was reading it, I kept giving her updates on the plot and she kept telling me to hurry up and finish the book). HOWEVER: we may need to have a refresher talk on the birds and the bees first. There is talk in this book of male heirs and the begetting of them, and arranged marriage, and marriages being consummated, and other innocent but frank references to sex.

But it's all part of the fun and games that were afoot in pre-Elizabethan England!
