Morjes!

Welcome to my blog. I write about fitting in, sticking out, and missing the motherland as a serial foreigner.

One year

I'm such a sucker for nostalgia that I can't resist posting that today is the day that marks one year since I came to Turku to do my teaching demonstration and interview. Yesterday and today I was all over town on my bike in the (mostly - except for this afternoon when it snowed) beautiful sunshine, so I had plenty of time to reflect on the place that seemed like such a reach one year ago but which is now my home.

That's all. My heart gets full at times like these - these tomorrow, when the world changed moments - so I had to post. Here is a picture I took a year ago, standing on the bridge across from Turku Cathedral, looking out at the Aura River.

And here are some photos I took yesterday and today, cycling/walking around town with my baby in the rumble seat/stroller like a local.

That last photo is from this afternoon. I am glad it didn't snow like this a year ago - I think it would have alarmed me.
