I always wonder how universities decide where/whether to send their students for study abroad. Back in the day, BYU relied heavily on the State Dept warning list, which was (and they knew it) imperfect. In 2004 they let their Egypt study abroad students come on a trip to Syria (we met up with them a few times), but by 2006 and 2007 Syria was off-limits.

I haven't thought through it yet all the way, but I'm leaning towards feeling like this when it comes to "voting your conscience" in November. Jeremy thinks he probably won't vote; I totally get that, but I have arranged to send in an overseas absentee ballot.
