Morjes!

Welcome to my blog. I write about fitting in, sticking out, and missing the motherland as a serial foreigner.

DNA!

My mom gave me an Ancestry DNA kit as an early birthday present! I got the results last week and now my entire immediate family has their information.

My dad did it through 23andme, which doesn't (or at least didn't) separate Ireland and Great Britain. So his percentages are equal for those two places.

I was relieved to see that I am not adopted after all. I don't look like my siblings or even parents, and I am the only one with blue eyes and blonde hair (that has since darkened a bit) (everyone else has brown eyes and dark hair). I didn't expect to see an explanation for that in this test, exactly, but it's fun to see people's different percentages!
