Morjes!

Welcome to my blog. I write about fitting in, sticking out, and missing the motherland as a serial foreigner.

All the Spanish I've learned from watching Spanish period dramas on Netflix

All the Spanish I've learned from watching Spanish period dramas on Netflix

Spelled exactly as I hear it, for the enjoyment of you people who actually speak Spanish.

tienes razon (you're right)

adelante (come in)

habitacion (bedroom - this had to be the most commonly spoken word on Gran Hotel)

promitida (fiancee)

no se procupe (don't worry about it)

con su permisio (what you say when you're leaving a room - with your permission, or excuse me)

ayuda! (help!)

mentido (liar)

tranquile (relax)

dejame (leave me alone)

novio (boyfriend)

embarasada (pregnant)

te quiero (I love you - I don't think I have ever heard 'te amo')

This last one isn't a word, exactly, but an accent thing I noticed. A character from Argentina was on Las Chicas del Cables and he did a weird slurring thing with his double-Ls.
