Blog changes
I’ve been thinking for a while about blogging, and how, since 2005 when I started, it has changed, and how the internet has changed, and how I’ve changed. I have generally been careful about what I put on here, but even so, I find myself increasingly uncomfortable with having private-adjacent information about me and my family online.
To that end:
I plan on distancing this blog’s title and URL from my personal identity. I may also sometimes be more circumspect about personal or family details in posts. The change in URL and blog name/design will come soon-ish and I apologize for any misbehaving links or images in the meantime.
My old Jordan and Syria blogs are now password-protected. I might already be on A List (or Several Lists) somewhere out there and I’ve decided to take those two blogs out of the public eye for now. I am aware that the arm of the internet is quite long with considerable reach, but this is a small and easy step to take.
Outsourced Friday is increasingly irrelevant and I likely won’t continue this feature. There are far, far smarter people than me who link to fascinating stuff on all kinds of platforms. Plus, I’ve been posting less often since November 2017 and it doesn’t make sense to have the only two posts in eight days both be Outsourced. I have enjoyed curating link lists for the past eight years but it’s time to hang up my hat.
Thank you for your readership over the years and thanks in advance for your patience!
