Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
An excellent companion to The Dropout - that podcast gives you the sound bytes and interview clips (including That Voice) and overall scope/timeline of Holmes' deception, and this book gives you alllllll the details. Every chapter, you think "well, it couldn't possibly get worse!" And then it DOES. I loved the sudden shift to first-person when the time came for it, too. Delicious.
Holmes remains inscrutible, even in this exhaustively researched book, but I enjoyed the well-drawn surrounding cast of characters ranging from egotistical megalomaniacs, to goofy engineers, to principled whistleblowers.
