Takatalvi
I have held off blogging about the weather this week (until now). It has snowed every day since Monday. Two of those times, it was a significant amount with accumulation that lasted until morning in shady areas. My brain couldn't figure out what was going on when I looked out the window: it's light outside (therefore not winter) but there is snow on the ground (therefore ???). To be having 17 hours of daylight, but also to be having snow...DOES NOT COMPUTE.
I promise I am not complaining. I knew what Finland was when I picked it up. But I had already packed away Sterling's winter snow gear, which made this takatalvi (like "return of winter" or "winter's backside") a bit of a hassle. Fortunately, just as it began snowing on Monday, I was coming home from a children's thrift shop where I picked up a secondhand snowsuit for Sterling to wear next year. So he's worn that all week. Yaaaaayyyyy.
Starting tomorrow, the temperatures will be climbing back into the teens (celsius). Hooray for the return of spring!
